Partner Susan Walsh testifies at United States Sentencing Commission hearings
03/08/2024The United States Sentencing Commission, which establishes the policies and rules that apply to federal sentencing, is considering several amendments for adoption later this year. Vladeck partner Susan J. Walsh, the Second Circuit representative to the Practitioners Advisory Group (PAG) to the United States Sentencing Commission, testified in support of several pivotal modifications at public hearings on March 6 and 7. Among the issues that Ms. Walsh addressed is a proposal to revise the long-standing and highly controversial practice of permitting sentencing enhancement based on conduct for which an accused has been found not guilty by a jury.
