Why Work Here?
This position offers hands on experience in all aspects of criminal defense at a nationally recognized law firm committed to building its criminal defense practice. It is a unique opportunity to pursue a career in criminal defense in a collegial environment with all the challenges of complex criminal defense litigation but without the pressure of excessive caseloads.  The opportunity affords extraordinary growth potential, including the opportunity to gain experience in employment law and disability rights practices.

Vladeck, Raskin & Clark, P.C. established in New York City in 1949 is a preeminent employment law firm.  In 2010 Vladeck expanded into criminal defense with the addition of partner Susan Walsh. Since then, the firm has moved beyond its precedent setting work as a labor and employment firm traditionally focused on protecting the hard-earned reputations and careers of working professionals to include the representation of the criminally accused, largely focusing on complex federal criminal matters. The candidate will work directly with and benefit from the mentorship of Susan Walsh.  Susan has extensive criminal defense experience on the trial and appellate levels in both state and federal courts, has been recognized for her extensive bar work and pro bono clemency representation and has taught trial advocacy and related courses for more than a decade.

We are seeking an attorney with a passion for representing the accused who is ready to delve into all aspects of criminal defense on the trial and appellate level and expand into civil litigation. The firm’s long history of representing the rights of the individual against the powerful is reflected in criminal defense work that is guided by the principle that no person should stand alone against the full might of the government in a criminal prosecution or investigation.  Nor should any person’s life be defined by their worst day.

Vladeck seeks an experienced criminal defense attorney eager to join a team that considers client service its utmost value and adheres to the philosophy that effective legal representation must embrace a holistic approach to meeting individual client needs. This associate position will also be afforded the opportunity to learn as well as assist in plaintiff’s side employment and disability cases.

The firm strives to operate as a team with each lawyer bringing their individual talents to work together toward ensuring the highest quality client service.  Candidates must be high-energy, ready to hit the ground running in a fast-paced position that will provide limitless opportunities for career development in both criminal defense and plaintiff’s side employment. The firm recognizes and supports a healthy work/life balance. At the same time, the candidate must understand that unlike other areas of practice, criminal defense necessarily involves far greater physical presence in order to meet the needs of witnesses, clients, and courts. Additionally, the firm supports and encourages pro bono work and engagement in bar activities.
